How to change the default extensions marketplace?

I have set the environment variable but it is having no effect on the extensions tab in the web editor.

Can you tell which marketplace registry you changed to?

The docs for this may be outdated...previously you could set export EXTENSIONS_GALLERY='{"serviceUrl": "https://extensions.coder.com/api"}'like so.

@code-asher are there other properties you need to set besides serviceUrl?

vscode.dev does initialize with us but does switch to fr without any issues.

I'm able to reproduce the extension installation issue for that particular extension if the EXTENSIONS_GALLERY is used to specify marketplace.visualstudio.com, like you showed before. However, the same extension appears to be available on Open VSX too, and installing it from there with the default settings seems to work successfully. (I tested in Docker with codercom/code-server:4.90.3-noble.) Installing other extensions from the Microsoft marketplace seems to work successfully though, so I couldn't guess what the issue is. Given the licensing restrictions, why not just install from Open VSX?

Well, I don't know why you needed the MS marketplace to begin with (I assume some extension you need is not available on Open VSX). But if your extension install directories are persisted, it looks like this works: First start up with the default settings to use Open VSX, and install that one extension. Then terminate code-server and restart it with the other marketplace configured instead.

You could probably also build a particular extension from source if you need to.
