Summary:
Deleting an element by pressing the Delete key or using the Delete option in the UI fails and shows an error message.

Steps to reproduce:

Select an element on the canvas.
Press the Delete key or click the Delete option in the UI.

Actual result:
The element is not deleted.
An error message appears: "Cannot delete element".

Expected result:
The selected element should be deleted successfully without showing any error message.
