Backport

This will backport the following commits from main to 8.3:

The ES project recently upgraded Gradle and now some build code from ES depends on new methods.

Additionally, the Spark version in QA has disappeared and a new version of Spark needs to be added for testing.

I think it actually is required now because of this change: https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/88595/files#diff-b02217a5b8647aa4eda31838ce5ff2fb75a8e7056932ccb62220313defdb9e95R93. That method (getResourceLock() with no arguments) does not exist in gradle 7.3.

Oh sorry my comment was for 7.17 but this is for 8.3. Re-closing.
