AS export to zip file creates a file of large size

In Android Studio, when I go to File > Export to Zip file for a flutter project, it creates a zip file which is of around 350 MB and raw file size is 1.2 GB (70% size reduction)

However when I do the same thing for a Java project, the zip file comes out to be around 5 MB for a 400 MB raw project. (99% size reduction)

@pq What is in .../ios/.symlinks? The exported file includes all that stuff, around 500MB in my small app when exported. But the app itself just has a few symlinks there.

symlinks shows 1 KB however there are 2 folders inside it.
flutter(492 MB) and plugins(544 bytes)
