It has taken me far too long to prepare this release announcement because of various post-COVID tiredness issues and some heavy workload in the office, and then I held off for the 1.62 release of Rust so that I wasn't chasing the release team when they were busy.
The release is staged and ready for final release, so once we're happy with the blog post we can turn the handle fairly quickly. I figured I'd project the expected release date to Monday 11th July.
