Small changes to fine-grained unit test framework in preparation for bigger changes.

  1. Improve the debug printing facilities.
  2. Can emit dot files for debugging unit tests.
  3. Cosmetics: comments, etc.
  4. Better verification.
  5. Fix unit-test bug uncovered by better verification.
